Description
8" X 2" X 1" Convoluted Wheel (IMPORT) – 4500 RPM
This is a non-woven abrasive finishing wheel designed for deburring, blending, surface conditioning, polishing prep, and decorative finishing with minimal material removal. Convolute wheels are made by wrapping layers of abrasive-impregnated non-woven material around a core, creating a durable wheel that runs cooler than hard grinding wheels while producing a consistent finish. They are designed for applications where you want to improve the surface without significantly changing part dimensions.
Ideal for use on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, titanium, non-ferrous metals, and some plastics/composites.
Common Uses
- Deburring sharp edges on machined or stamped parts
- Blending sanding lines, weld marks, and scratch patterns
- Removing light rust, oxidation, and surface contamination
- Creating satin, brushed, or decorative finishes
- Surface conditioning before buffing or polishing
- Finishing knives, fabricated metal parts, tools, and machined components
- Edge breaking without gouging the workpiece
How to Use
- Mount on a compatible bench grinder, pedestal grinder, or finishing machine with the correct arbor size.
- Always operate at or below 4500 RPM MAX.
- Use light to moderate pressure—letting the abrasive do the work will give the best finish and longer wheel life.
- Move the workpiece evenly across the wheel to create a uniform finish.
- For finer finishes, start with a coarser grit and work up progressively.
- Always wear proper eye and hand protection.
Quick Grit Comparison
120 → General cleanup / deburring / satin finish
180 → Smoother blending / refining
220 → Fine finishing / scratch blending
320 → Surface refinement / pre-polish
400 → Ultra-fine finishing / final prep
