Buffing Wheels
Metal workers, foundries, knife makers, gunsmiths, and wood carvers (honing chisels) use these products for finishing. Buffing wheels, made from 40 plies of cotton sheets, are sewn together in three degrees of stiffness: SPIRAL SEWN-HARD -1/4" tightly sewn is a good general purpose wheel for coarse buffing. SPIRAL SEWN-MEDIUM - sewn with concentric circles about 3/8" to 1/2" apart is good for cutting and coloring action. SPIRAL SEWN-LOOSE -sewn with only about 2 concentric circles is extra soft for final coloring. This is the safest wheel to use with rouge on precious metals. Buffing wheels are about 1/2" thick and can be gang mounted side by side to achieve say 1" or 2" face widths. They have 1/2", 5/8", or 3/4" arbors which can be mounted on a bench motor, drill press, or on our 1/4", 1/2" or 5/8" wheel MOTO ARBORS, available with left or right turn threading..
A BUFFING WHEEL RAKE with metal teeth and wooden handle is available.
